Tzedek Hillel

Tzedek Hillel continues to be one of Hillel’s most popular tools for engagement as it seeks to pursue justice and transform communities. Framed by the Jewish imperatives of tzedakah (righteousness), gemilut chasadim (acts of loving kindness), and tikkun olam (repair of the world), the Tzedek Hillel program engages and empowers students in meaningful public service and encourages creative thinking when addressing social justice issues. In the process of bringing about meaningful social change, participants grow intellectually and spiritually.

Volunteer Opportunities

Reena - Tuesday, February 03, 2009
If you've even been to the Wolfond Centre, you may have noticed that the basement is home to Reena's Pathways programme.  The clients and staff would love to have volunteers from Hillel to hang out and socialise with the clients, as well as assist the staff.  This is a great opportunity to get involved right in our own community.  Interested? Contact Jess [email protected]

Volunteer Mentors Wanted
The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) is operating a new project called Newcomer Services for Youth.  This project offers a mentorship program for in-school and out-of-school newcomer youth.  The main objective of this project is to assist the integration for newcomer youths into the Canadian academic system and society.

As a mentor, you would work with newcomer youth for a minimum of one hour per week. Mentors assist based on the needs and goals of the newcomer. Examples of assistance can be through tutoring, cultural activities, recreational activities, and post-secondary planning.

Interested?  E-mail Jess [email protected]
