Tu B’Shvat
Written by Rob Nagus, Director of Queen’s Hillel
In January, Queen’s Hillel hosted a beautiful Tu B’Shvat dinner at Beth Israel Synagogue. Our Education team did an amazing job decorating the shul with Tu B’Shvat themed accessories as well as providing each table with information and discussion topics about the holiday. The Committee also gave a short presentation about Tu B’Shvat and the origins of the holiday. In addition to our regular Shabbat meal, our Kashrut Committee helped prepare several Tu B’shvat themed dishes, including the obvious selection of dried fruits and pomegranates. They also prepared a traditional Sephardic rice dish often served on the holiday. Over 120 students came to celebrate for a great night of food, learning, community and yiddishkeit.
